Episode 8: Ethics & Patent Law W/Special Guest Herb Rubenstein
In this podcast, I am joined by a special guest, Mr. Herb Rubenstein. Mr. Rubenstein is VP and General Counsel of Golf Pro Delivered, as well as President of Herb Rubenstein Consulting, and a prolific author. Herb is a member of the Virginia, Maryland, and District of Columbia bars and is writing a book on the ethical crisis facing the legal profession that will be published later this year. Mr. Rubenstein is also a far better golfer than I am, having recently become a Class A PGA Member! Congrats Herb!
Mr. Rubenstein and Mr. Lesperance discussed:
- Ethics in the legal profession and the patent bar in particular.
- The concept of a national legal compliance agency akin to the USPTO Office of Enrollment and Discipline.
- Blocking patents and their ethical dilemma for society
- The concept of use or lose patent rights – comparing to trademark usage obligations.
- How to deal with an uneven playing field – other countries’ unethical or lower ethical standards.
